Why it matters

A smooth, informative checkout experience is key for Cycliq to meet the expectations of cycling enthusiasts seeking high-quality products. An optimized flow can reduce drop-offs and build trust with customers.

Stage 1: Market Research and Analysis

  • Problem to solve: How might we enhance the checkout experience for cyclist enthusiast while they look for high quality and descriptive products.

  • Competitive analysis: I conducted five informational interviews and a competitive analysis that analyzed 3 existing competitors: Target, Amazon and TrekBikes. Several Insgihts emerged from the research.

Stage 2: Concept development and user flow design

Given the time constraints I focused on creating a user flow to understand how to map out my designs. I focused on creating a user flow that began with using a guest account to the confirmation page.

  • Through our insights we concluded that Vergo was in need of a restructure. My team and I created a new structure to aid us with the low fidelity of our new screens. We then proceeded with redesigning the website and created low fidelity screens. Due to time constraints we met with our stakeholder for discussions and approvals.

Stage 3: Design and execution

  • Low-fidelity mockups: Due to time constraints, I created low-fidelity mockups to gather initial feedback and identify key pain points. Using these insights, I developed a high-fidelity prototype and conducted another usability test to gather further feedback.

Stage 4: User Testing

The final step for the product concluded in conducting a 2nd and final round of user testing and iteration making.

Stage 5: Final Presentation and Handoff

The project was concluded at the end of the design iterations from the 2nd round of user testing. A presentation was put together which highlighted the app's features of detailed descriptions for the products and an enhanced 1 step checkout feature.

Outcome

  • Next steps: The project timeline ended, but we plan to take the product into development and prepare for launch

  • Conversion: 80% checkout completions during usability testing after iterations.

  • Expectations: Prototype changes were estimated to improve task speed by ~30% based on test.
